FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Copiacintas de Video consistent with its commitment to QUALITY and SAFETY with its clients, works exclusively in its workshop/laboratory without sending the material to third parties.
We have the appropriate techniques in the management of each of the formats such as Analog VIDEO Digitization, SUPER8 film conversion, SLIDE Scanning, AUDIO cassette capture, photographs, etc.
Copiacintas de Video prefers to contact the CUSTOMER directly. In this way we give you the best information and we can observe the general condition of the material to be processed, offering you a budget adjusted to reality.
We can also assist you by phone or via WhatsApp. Through our website (form) you can also make your order directly and we will contact you later to provide more information and to find out your expectations regarding tape formats, measurements and conditions of 8mm and Super 8 reels, storage media you want to keep the files, collection and delivery of the material, etc.
It is more advisable to supply the files copied on a USB flash drive, an SD memory card or an external hard drive.
However, if you wish and it is essential, we can send you the files via wetransfer, Filemail or another platform, but this service is limited to files that are not very heavy or large, since the work times increase considerably. If the files are too large, an additional cost will be estimated for this service.
Copiacintas de Video provides you with the USB or SD memory to save the files at a normal market price, guaranteeing its quality.
This value will be added to the total service at the time of delivery of the finished work.
In the case of VHS, VHSC, Betamax, V8, Hi8, Digital 8 formats, the files are output directly in Windows MPEG format. They can later be converted to other formats of your choice, but this conversion work has an additional cost.
The client can also do this work themselves if they want to save this cost, for which we suggest the use of a free program.
Generally, the client pays us when the work is delivered, except when there is a charge for home delivery or purchase of the USB.
In these cases, we request an advance payment estimated by the client in order to cover these initial expenses. Later, when the finished work is delivered, the client pays us the outstanding balance.
When there are empty tapes, these are not charged.
Payment is made through bank transfer (Bancolombia), or in cash, according to the client's convenience.
In this case we do not charge for the cassette. We only invoice the material that has been effectively converted.
Of course. The material is returned complete and numbered so that the client has a reference to the files delivered.
The files we deliver are editable. They are usually in MPEG or MP4 format. They can be transformed into other video formats on PC with some programs such as Movie Maker Live, Pinnacle, etc., or on Mac (iMovie, FinalCut, etc.).
Sometimes tapes arrive with playback defects due to humidity or the time they have been stored. Many of these tapes can be improved thanks to a rewinding and cleaning process.
However, there are other factors that affect the quality of the tapes, such as the magnetization they may have suffered over time.
To the extent possible, we try to improve the quality both in the preparation and review, as well as in the capture process.
MPEG and MP4 are the best formats for easily copying videos and even editing them with most video editing programs.
When processing many tapes, these two formats offer the convenience of having all the videos together on a single hard drive or USB so they can be easily viewed on a modern computer or compatible TV. Generally, the latest generation Smart TVs are compatible with these two video formats.
